The Stubby Holder has come a long way since it entered the promotional market almost 30 years ago. Most people would remember the original stubby holder - a pre-formed polystyrene can cooler with the hard PVC coating (which is a bit of a collector's item these days). Originally introduced as the Beer Koozie from the US, today's stubby holder quickly became adapted to our Australian short glass bottles commonly known as the stubbie, hence the birth of the name stubby holder.

The materials used in stubby holders can include plain foam and an open cell foam variant of neoprene, both an inexpensive and lightweight version of the stubby holder but lacking in cooling ability.
